OK so I have done the searches and though there has been a good deal of XT225 info passed about (though usualy just a link to www.xt225.com) I think it is time for a single thread to coalate all that has been and yet to be learned about this awsome little bike.I also own a DR650 and my decision to purchase that bike and not a XR or KLR was largely fueled by the simplicity of browsing through.

  4. Nice and light and low. Surprisingly good power for a 225. I moved up to a DR650 (which I love) and the power difference is very noticeable but not as much as you would think with a motor that is nearly 3 times the size. Not really anything out there for mods, or for the DR650 either for that matter. Loved the XT225

Combined with recent interweb clues, and focusing on JT Sprockets, it looks like JTF1263.xx front and JTR1842.xx rear will bolt up to late model XT225s ('96-07 I believe). Those rear sprockets are indeed flush on the back side not dished. That's actually what I've been running for the past 14k miles The bike is a 1990 Yamaha XT225 and it's pretty much sat for 4-5 months now without being started (I have turned it over every month at least though a fair bit to keep things moving around while I work out how to start it). Another thank you to captaincrow of the Xt225 forums for his pictorial guide, which I referenced a few times as well, because i'm paranoid like that. Since I finally had it apart anyway, I replaced all the philips-head bolts (broken loose with an impact screwdriver) for the crankcase cover with hex-head stainless bolts, from a kit I got on.
